About the Viapark Hotel, Parque del Plata, and Uruguay

Welcome! Learn more about our hotel, the beautiful beach resort Parque del Plata, friendly and welcoming Uruguay, and who we are at the Viapark Hotel and Restaurant.

Parque del Plata is a small, classic beach resort (“balneario”) less than an hour from the excitement and bustle of Uruguay’s capital, Montevideo. Read more about Parque del Plata and the surrounding resorts on the Costa del Oro, such as nearby Atlántida.

Uruguay is a fascinating destination in its own right, increasingly a new home for many North American, Australian, New Zealander, and European expats. Uruguay is also a good base for exploring more of the Southern Cone of South America. We are within a day’s drive of southeastern Brazil. Regular flights to various cities in Argentina and Brazil depart from both Montevideo Carrasco International Airport, only about 40 minutes away on the eastern side of Montevideo, and from Punta del Este Airport, about 90 minutes further east from us. Photo of Viapark Hotel from the beach walkway across the street, showing the high dunes and how close we are to the shore. The Viapark Hotel is a longtime part of the Parque del Plata community, and a favorite destination of Uruguayans, Argentinians, Brazilians, traveling with friends, family, or surf buddies, who want the perfect location for a beach vacation, at a smart price. Recently purchased by a North American expat who immigrated to Uruguay, the Hotel Viapark now also welcomes English-speaking travelers: Americans, Canadians, EU-based, Oceania-based, and other visitors. We have friendly staff, the owner is often on-site, and we will do our best to give you home-like service in either Spanish or English. Likewise in our Fast Food (cooked when you order) restaurant, we now often have a mix of classic beach food, local specialties, and sometimes special home-style dishes with a European or North American accent.

Our rooms are simple yet nicely decorated, with ceiling fans, “split” air conditioners for cooling and heating, cable TV, and free WiFi internet. We can add an extra bed to most rooms, with only a small charge (currently $5 USD). Weekly we now have special events for the English-speaking residents, guests, expats, and local Uruguayans who want to practice their English: Movie Nights on Sunday evenings, recreational get-togethers and friendly games mid-week, and twice monthly, we host the Atlántida area Expat Luncheon.
